Even so, more spending has been added through Act 59 and Act 181 "For land planning and administration costs.” Due to the Leftist Super-Majority of Vermont Legislators until the 2024 Election, Gov. Scott’s Veto of Act 181 was overridden adding more costs for Vermonters. Act 181 increased the already high number of Vermont State Employees by adding 159 more state paid jobs. The LURB Planning added 34 positions along with an additional 125 people to statewide planning commissions. That’s an additional 159 people in these paid planning categories with more jobs expected to be added in the future.
Vermont Rural Towns are shrinking, property taxes went up an average of over 40% in five years, and we have a large senior population on fixed incomes — Yet, our Vermont State Employee Payroll stays huge and continues to grow.
