My name is Gerald Malloy, and I am seeking to serve Vermonters as candidate for the US Congress representing the state of Vermont.
Yesterday I googled 'scourge of socialism' to make sure I was using the right spelling and phrase in writing an email to a https://websites.godaddy.com/gerald-malloy-us-senatesupporter. (The article with the link below popped up, I read it and recommend all Vermonters read it.) In the email I was writing I talked about our Country being in troubled waters, but, as surprising as this may sound, here in Vermont I believe we are actually going to lead the way in rejecting the progressive left/socialism in upcoming elections.
Why would I think that? The answer is that Vermont has tried progressive left/socialism for a very long time: the experiment and all the false promises have flat failed. It's why Vermont has become unaffordable, less safe, and a place for people and businesses to leave. And what is rising to the surface is that most people here love this brave little state, and just as President Coolidge noted nearly 100 years ago, are indomitable.
The article made me think back to serving in the Army during a 3 year tour of Europe and seeing in person what communism looks like. It is awful, sad, depressing. It starts with wealth redistribution and controlling the means of production: in Vermont this equates to raising your property taxes 60%, continuously adding unwanted costly social programs and new burdens, refusing to reform Act 250, and the land grab that was Act 181, along with decades of false promises; and then promoting the proponents of these progressive/socialist policies/failures to "represent" Vermont in DC.
Our Constitutional Republic will endure and thrive for another 250 years. Vermont will too, but not on the current path. It is time for change.
